Executive Vice President, Corporate Counsel, Assistant Secretary | The GEO Group, Inc.

Motivated by hard work and perseverance, Beth A. Patterson Crews has excelled for more than two decades as an attorney with expertise in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, transactional matters, and corporate tax planning.

Since 2021, she’s been active as the executive vice president, corporate counsel, and assistant secretary at the GEO Group, Inc. in Florida, which provides leading, evidence-based rehabilitation programs to those in-custody and post-release into the community. In this capacity, she wields her skills in tax law, contract drafting, negotiation, financial advisory, and communication to fulfill her numerous responsibilities, which include reviewing proposals of contracts and conducting research on certain issues that the business may have with certain state or federal laws.

With a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the School of Law at the University of Miami, graduating cum laude for both degrees, Ms. Crews launched her career as a tax consultant at Ernst & Young. She subsequently bolstered her credentials with a Master of Laws in taxation from Georgetown Law and an MBA in international business from the Miami Herbert Business School—during which she maintained a role as the international senior tax consultant at Deloitte US for three years, followed by the same position at KPMG. For a year, she served as an attorney for the firm Whisenand & Turner, P.A. before practicing law at Nason, Yeager, Gerson, Harris & Fumero, P.A. from 2006 to 2015.

In 2015, Ms. Crews found success as the senior vice president and deputy general counsel at Carrier & Technology Solutions, LLC, where she remained up until 2019, when she became the project attorney-turned-practice attorney at Greenberg Trautig, LLP. Prior to her current role, she was a partner at Katz Barron from 2020 to 2021. Over the course of her career, she’s had a proven ability to introduce corporate best-practice programs and assist in the operations of companies through teamwork and executive management. A formidable negotiator and a seasoned deal-maker, she considers her most notable achievement to be working on a $3 billion stock deal for an electrical company.

In addition to her primary endeavors, Ms. Crews has contributed numerous articles to professional journals and been a longtime member of the Florida Bar. Looking toward the future, she aspires to become a general counselor at a public company.
